Watch Of The Week | Hamilton Ventura Elvis80

The Hamilton Ventura Elvis80 Auto.

Specifically rendered to pay homage to Elvis Presley, and the inclusion of original Ventura made its film debut way back in 1961 in Blue Hawaii, the Hamilton Ventura Elvis 80 is sculpted in the shape of a shield, sleekly sturdy and svelte. Stainless steel, water resistant composition up to 50 meters, a width of 22.22 mm, a black leather band and a simple date, minute hand and second hand complete the package. What’s missing? Your wrist.

Hamilton for its part prides itself on being a marriage of American drive and Swiss innovation. Somehow the two cultures merged to create a watch brand that is chic enough to wear to a black tie gala and robust enough to rock at the tailgating party during Monday Night Football.

Variations in bezels and bands offer versatility: the Elvis 80 Quartz combines Swiss quartz movement and sparkling stainless steel bezel to raises the watch’s game from casual to luxury; the Elvis 80 Auto in turn combines Hamilton’s own automatic H-10 movement with polished black to bridge the gap between top shelf luxury and casual utility. Both models have multiple band styles: rubber and leather.

The Ventura by itself is a gorgeous work of modern-day watchmaking. Unlike traditional watch brands that remain faithful to a standard form, the Ventura breaks free of that structure with its striking shield design. It’s a very extroverted sort of watch. Need to step your game up? This is how you do it.
