Derren Brown has revealed that he is teaming up with Thorpe Park in order to deliver the world’s first “psychological theme park ride.”

The illusionist is working in collaboration with the Surrey-based park in order to deliver what they have branded their “biggest investment to date,” with Brown claiming that it could potentially change theme park attractions forever. There’s no word yet on what exactly it will be, but it’s been described by Thorpe as a 13-minute experience that will “derail people’s minds.” So not your standard rollercoaster, then.

Speaking of the new attraction, Brown said: “The process of creating this new experience has been the most challenging of my career – so much so that it has taken us three years to get the project on track. You can look forward to a heady mix of magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship.”

The 44-year-old is known for devising elaborate tricks upon members of the public, such as 2012’s Derren Brown: Apocalypse in which he convinced the unwitting Steven Brosnan that he was one of few survivors of a zombie apocalypse. According to Thorpe Park’s divisional director Mike Vallis, the attraction “”will be a world first.” he added: “As such, we have invested heavily in next generation cutting-edge technology.”

The attraction will be unveiled at Thorpe Park in 2016, with the official website MindsWanted.co.uk currently staging a competition that offers participants the chance to win tickets to its exclusive launch event.
