Samsung Galaxy S7 Will Boast Two Variants Despite Disappointing S6 Sales

Samsung isn’t letting the disappointing sales of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge get to them, with it being reported that they are looking to again release two variants of the next iteration in their flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S7.

A report from Sammobile suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will release with two variants, like the S6 and the S6 Edge or Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. While the S6 released to great reviews, it still failed to manage to lure consumers away from the record-breaking iPhone 6, with the company revealing that they had failed to meet their own sales targets and had experienced a drop in the second quarter of the fiscal year.

However, the company is still throwing its weight behind its smartphone division, with Sammobile claiming that they have obtained information suggesting that the two variants of the Galaxy S7 will be released in Canada, China, Europe, Korea, and the US, with more locations set to be revealed.

More interesting, however, is the news that Samsung may have potentially found a way for microSD cards to work alongside UFS 2.0 storage, thus meaning that the Galaxy could once again feature removable storage. However, Sammobile states that this particular piece of information should be taken with a pinch of salt, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.

Samsung is referring to the two S7 variants as the Hero and Hero2, with one reportedly featuring a Exynos 8890 processor and the other a Snapdragon 820 SoC. 11 carriers have thus far been listed as carrying the two smartphones, including Cricket, AT&T, MetroPCS, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon in the US, and Bell Mobility in Canada.

It hasn’t been officially confirmed by Samsung that the S7 will feature two variants, nor is there word on whether or not the company is looking to keep with its curved Edge design or go another route with their potential second S7, but it seems like a safe bet that the company would be looking to increase the amount of options available to consumers with its flagship smartphone in order to keep up with Apple.
