LA Auto Show 2014: Shelby Mustang GT350

Where the Mustang goes, the Shelby GT350 must follow.

Ford kicked off the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang last year at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and at the 2014 New York International Auto Show in Manhattan. Once the 2015 birthday version of the Mustang was before the public, it was only a matter of time before its most muscled up sister arrived.

This year’s LA Auto Show was Ford’s chosen spot to unveil the latest GT350 – a descendent of Carroll Shelby’s original design that took an already fun car and made it insane.

The latest Shelby GT350 Mustang is a brutal track car a man can drive home — or it will be once it arrives next year. According to Ford’s announces, the new GT350 will be powered by a flat-plane crankshaft, 5.2 liter V8 engine that will produce more than 500 horsepower. This far out from retail sale, Ford can’t put out the exact specs and performance marks — but the automaker does promise the GT350 will be the most powerful, naturally aspirated Ford production engine ever.
