Bad News, Apple Fans: Apple Watch is Launching Later Than We Expected

The Apple Watch will be launching later than everyone expected, with it now set to launch in the spring rather than its vague “early 2015” release window.

In a message sent to Apple Store employees that was obtained by 9to5Mac, Apple Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores Angela Ahrendts writes: “We’re going into the holidays, we’ll go into Chinese New Year, and then we’ve got a new watch launch coming in the spring.”

It seems likely that March or April will be the earliest we’ll get our hands on the Apple Watch.

It was initially thought that the Apple Watch may launch as soon as January, after the company unveiled the wearable tech alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple is not known for waiting such a lengthy period of time between announcements and releases, but it is likely that they simply wanted to use the iPhone 6 reveal as a high-profile launching pad for the smartwatch.

The Apple Watch will launch with a variety or different models to choose from.

Though Apple refused to specify the month in which the Apple Watch would be shipped to retailers, its early 2015 window seemed to suggest that the company would roll out the much-anticipated tech around the beginning of the year, potentially in January. Now it seems likely that March or April will be the earliest we get our hands on the Apple Watch.
