Grovemade iPhone 5/5S Case Review

When you get an Apple iPhone, and in particular the iPhone 5S with its Space Grey or Gold metallic and glass exterior, it’s difficult not to admire the stunning design. Enough so, it’s always disappointing to tuck tech beauty away behind a case that hides what should be on display. Fortunately, Grovemade’s hand-crafted iPhone cases – while ditching the metal finish for a natural walnut finish – do properly represent the craftsmanship and attention to detail that the device itself is known for.

Receiving both Grovemade’s new bumper for the iPhone 5/5S and their original case design in a Walnut finish, I immediately opened the case, eager to test out the new products. It’s extremely rare to be impressed even while opening the box, but the brilliant design of even the packaging shows that Grovemade goes the extra mile in putting forth a luxury product made with care. Upon sliding the top half of the phone case (which conveniently slides together over the phone to form a solid case design), I was greeted by social media icons that I surprisingly felt compelled to follow.

Once I got my iPhone 5S fitted snugly and securely within the Walnut iPhone case, I was sold, and it hasn’t come off my phone since. The hand-made wood finish gives off an air of elegance while retaining a natural feel, and is fit for both the farm-fresh hipster types all the way to powerful executives. The case itself isn’t too bulky, but does have a solid hand-feel, and the porous wood finish gives it a good grip to it.

As mentioned before, the case comes in two halves which have to be slide over the iPhone from top and bottom. This turned out to be a major blessing for me personally, as I am able to continue to use my OEM Apple charging dock for iPhone, by sliding off the bottom half and leaving it on my nightstand.
