When I finally decided that I was going to “kick” my unhealthy habits of overeating, binge drinking and weight cycling, I was a little skeptical about my ability to adopt a healthier diet that wasn’t boring. The thought of choking down dry chicken breasts and steamed broccoli was not the life I wanted. So, when I started researching about various foods and began experimenting in the kitchen, I realized there are tons of ways to eat healthier without “breaking the bank.” Here are 5 easy recipes for men to help kick-start your healthy eating regimen.
Turkey Wrapped Potato & Egg Muffins
I friggin’ love these. These egg, turkey & potato muffins are good for anytime of day. And if you’ve got the late-night munchies, these are perfect to pop in the microwave to satisfy cravings so you won’t reach for that bag of chips.
Chicken Avocado Salad Stuffed Pita
If you’re tired of buying sandwiches with paper-thin slices of meat placed between thick pieces of bread, then try this stuffed pita. Not only is it simple and easy to make, but also satisfying and will curb those lunchtime cravings for greasy food since the avocado is filling, yet nutritious.
Starting your day with proper nutrition is important. You supply your body with energy and fuel to conquer the day so you can be at your best. When you don’t have a lot of time in the morning, I recommend “meal prepping,” or preparing your meals in advance so all you have to do is “re-heat, grab and go.” Try these mini-breakfast casseroles to help you start your day!

Quinoa Stuffed Bell Peppers
One of the foods I’ve come to rely on in my diet is quinoa. It is high in protein, a solid complex carbohydrate that will give me energy throughout the day and it is easy to incorporate into recipes because it takes the flavor of the food you cook it with. Toss in some meat and sauce and you’re good to go!
$3 Budget Meal Turkey Chili
Hands down, this is one of my all-time favorite meals because it is filling, nutritious and budget friendly! It’s proof that you do not have to have a lot of money or “exotic” ingredients to maintain a healthy diet. The ultimate man meal – Texas Chili FTW!
