BACtrack Vio Turns Smartphone into Breathalyzer

Discrete, small and hanging from a keychain, the BACtrack pairs with an app on your smartphone, essentially turning your phone into an instant pocket Breathalyzer you’ll always have on you. If you think you may be over the limit, blow into the flip-out tube on the Vio before you put your key in the ignition. In seconds, an accurate estimation of your Blood Alcohol Level (BAC) is displayed on your phone’s screen, along with a handy bit of advice, such as “You are experiencing slight alcohol intoxication.” Why thank you, Drunk J.A.R.V.I.S.

The BACtrack Vio also features ZeroLine, a useful tool that gives you an estimate of when you’ll be back down to 0.00% BAC, so you know whether to have a cup of coffee and wait it out an hour or so, or if you should have a buddy pour you into a cab because you drank enough to be legally drunk for the next foreseeable future.

There are other helpful features as well, like the ability to track your BAC over time, log what you drank and where, and even attach photos. (Because a visual record of your drunk face is sometimes a better deterrent than a bunch of numbers.) All of this can be kept private, or shared on your social media. Which, unless there’s some sort of court order, just sounds like a recipe for chronic unemployment.
