Google Glass Allows Sick Children to Virtually Visit the Zoo

Google Glass has its many detractors, but the technology does have some wonderful uses, such as allowing Jaden here, who is hospitalized with diabetes, to virtually visit a zoo whilst bedbound.

Houston’s Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital recently offered its patients the ability to “visit the zoo” for a day with the help of Google Glass, and the results are heartwarming.

The video shows Jaden in a Google hangout via the Google Glass with a Houston Zoo employee, who takes him on a guided tour throughout the zoo.

This is part of the Google Glass Explorer program has recently been set up in the US, with this fun activity now being made available to more and more sick children.

Speaking of the program, a mother of a 6-year-old boy who tried out the Google Glass said: “It gave my son a chance to feel like he was a normal kid. He was able to see the zoo – what’s a greater thing than that?”
