Mandatory Hack: The Genius Shortcut For Keeping Your Cat Off The Counters

If you’re a cat owner or simply just a fan of felines you know it’s pointless to tell them no. Cats tell you no. That’s why they come equipped with killer claws and a don’t-give-a-fuck-attitude. As a cat owner, that king-of-the-jungle attitude may have been what made you fall in love with cats, but it’s not always a good thing. Thankfully, there’s a hack that makes keeping your cat off tabletops or counters super simple. TikTok user @poptartthecatdog shared their genius hack for keeping your cat off the counter so every cat owner’s life can improve.

What You’ll Need

  • Tinfoil
  • Counters/Tabletops
  • Cats

Open the drawer that stores your Tinfoil. Pull out a piece long enough to cover your countertop. Lay it there. You don’t want it to fit too snuggly because what freaks cats out about tinfoil isn’t the material itself but the sound it makes. That’s because when moved, bent, or stepped on, foil makes a very distinct high-pitched crinkling sound. It emits a sound so high-pitched that it reaches into the ultrasonic range, scaring your feline friend, but not harming it.
