Beware: Ebola Can Live In Semen For At Least Nine Months

As far as we know, there isn’t a dating site strictly reserved for those looking to hook up with Ebola survivors. But if you’re a young lady who gets aroused by men who have survived an infectious disease marked by fever and severe internal bleeding, you might want to think twice before having sex with him.

According to Reuters, scientists recently discovered the Ebola virus can potentially “exist in the semen of male survivors of the disease for at least nine months after their initial infection appears.”

Researchers studied 93 male Ebola survivors from Freetown, Sierra Leone, and the results were beyond disturbing in terms of trying to curb the disease. 100 percent of the men tested three months after beating the disease still had traces of it in their semen. 65 percent of them tested positive four to six months afterward, and 25 percent of the men who were tested seven to nine months afterward were still positive.

The World Health Organization is recommending that all Ebola survivors get tested on a monthly basis until it is determined that there are no more traces of the disease in their system. And the ladies will probably want to make sure they don’t round second base until then.
