Report: iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Specs Leaked

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus specs have reportedly been leaked, offering us a look at what Apple may have up its sleeve for the tech giant’s next flagship smartphones.

The leak, emerging from German tech site techtastic.com, has taken place just days before the company’s official unveiling of the devices in September’s upcoming Apple Event, and may prove to be disappointing to those who were hoping for a major redesign this time around. Though the iPhone 7 Plus in particular boasts an impressive new camera, all-in-all these leaked specs fall in line with the rumor that Apple wasn’t looking to reinvent the wheel with the iPhone 7, despite the company’s declining sales.

The specs for both smartphones are as follows:

iPhone 7

  • Screen: 4.7-inch, 750×1334 resolution
  • Processors: A10 and M10RAM: 2GB LPDDR4
  • Battery: 1960 mAh
  • Camera: 12 megapixel, 1/2.6-inch sensor, F/1.9, 1:3 microns pixels

iPhone 7 Plus

  • Screen: 5.5-inch, 1080×1920 resolution
  • Processors: A10 and M10
  • RAM: 3GB LPDDR4
  • Battery: 2910 mAh
  • Camera: Two 12 megapixel, 1/3-inch sensor, F/1.9

Though these specs are a little underwhelming and present only a seemingly minimal upgrade to the iPhone line, perhaps the addition of the two 12 megapixel cameras in the iPhone 7 Plus will prove to be enticing enough for people to make the upgrade. Though each facet of the device has been improved – from the battery being bumped up from 1715/2750 in the 6S / 6S Plus and the jump from the A9/M9 processors – the lack of an OLED screen is disappointing, as is Apple reportedly continuing to keep the standard iPhone flagship phone at a 720p resolution. Considering most of Apple’s biggest competitors are developing devices with QHD or 4K displays, we really want to see Apple move away from standard HD sooner rather than later.

With word in the industry being that Apple will unveil a major redesign with the iPhone 8, if these specs are to be believed then it seems that we shouldn’t expect the company to reinvent the wheel during the Apple Event. Hopefully the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus really blows us out of the water with its new camera, otherwise the company may struggle to match the incredible success of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launch.
