PS4 Dominates July 2014 NPD Group with The Last of Us Remastered

July’s NPD Group figures have been compiled , and to no surprise the PS4 is still killing the charts. Not only was it the best-selling console in North America during the month, but had the best selling game: The Last of Us Remastered.

The most surprising thing about The Last of Us Remastered‘s appearance at the top of the chart is that it came out on the 29th, giving it only two days to accumulate sales. To be fair, it was a very weak month for software, but it’s an accomplishment, nonetheless.

Sony announced during its Gamescom Press Conference that the PS4 has surpassed the 10 million units sold mark worldwide, and we’re just about to head into the software-rich months of Fall and Winter. It should only do better from here.

While Microsoft had no numbers to show, it made the following statement to GamesBeat:

Xbox One continues to sell at a strong and steady pace following the release of the $399 console in June, when month-to-month sales more than doubled. We continued to see this momentum in July.

Whatever that means.

Nintendo displayed some positive statistics. For one, Mario Kart 8 has surpassed one million units sold in the United States, and Wii U software and hardware sales for 2014 have had a 60% increase over last year.
