Sam Worthington, Vince Vaughn & Mel Gibson To Shoot War Film In Australia

Vince Vaughn and Mel Gibson are set to film a war-time drama in Australia with local boy Sam Worthington.

As previously reported, Gibson is set to direct the film, titled Hacksaw Ridge, which will also feature The Social Network’s Andrew Garfield.

This will be Gibson’s first film as a director in almost a decade. The last films he directed were 2006’s Apocalypto and 2004’s Passion Of The Christ.

Hacksaw Ridge will be based at Sydney’s Fox Studios with the crew currently scouting for other locations around the country.

The movie is set around World War II and follows a number of soldiers as they prepare for battle. It begins in South Carolina before the movie’s characters are deployed to Japan. Garfield will play a soldier while Vaughn will play Sgt. Howell, an officer in charge of getting the soldiers ready for battle. It’s currently unknown what Worthington’s part will be.

Pre-production began in January and the film is expected to be entirely filmed here in Australia. Let’s just hope none of our overseas guests attempt to bring their furry-friends here like ol’ mate Johnny Depp.
