This Is What Mad Max Taking Over The Sydney Opera House Looks Like

Marauding thousands gather around a shining monolith, their fervor only matched by the constant beat of the dazzling, bright sun in the sky above. Yep, just an average day at the tourist-covered Sydney Opera House, that is, until Mad Max: Fury Road paid a visit, bringing some necessary heavy artillery to carve through the crowds and set up shop for a spectacular stunt-heavy event ahead of the highly-awaited film’s Sydney premiere.

Bringing with them Elvis, Buick, Doof Wagon, Gigahorse and War Rig (which are post-apocalyptic vehicles, not the nicknames of my ex-boyfriends however close they may be to the truth), the Mad Max team took over the Opera House foreshore on Wednesday with promises of petrol-fueled mayhem, pyrotechnics and shirtless hooligans (aka the War Boys) that would make the Bathurst 1000 look like child’s play.

After a quick intro including chats with Academy Award winning Cinematographer John Seale and Production Designer Colin Gibson, the harbour-side event took off in true form with motorbikes, cars and a flaming guitar (?) direct from the set of the fourth Mad Max film, coming alive for a showcase of brute, legit-terrifying carnage.

Check out the full gallery of the event below and stay tuned for our video interview with Seale, Gibson and mountain with legs/Mad Max Fury Road star Nathan Jones soon.
