Louis C.K. Is Writing, Directing And Starring In A New Film

Your favourite curmudgeonly comic Louis C.K. is getting back into the film game, writing, directing and starring in the new indie flick I’m a Cop.

I’m a Cop comes 14 years after the release of Louis C.K.’s directorial effort, Pootie Tang, an experience that C.K. himself has admitted he was not prepared for. This time round, C.K.’s film will be produced by industry heavyweight Scott Rudin.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, I’m a Cop tells the story of a depressed, middle-aged man living under the shadow of his mother who is a former cop. When she dies, her legacy forces him to, begrudgingly, follow in her foot steps and become a police officer.

2001’s Pootie Tang, starring Chris Rock, was a difficult directorial experience for Louis C.K., ending with Paramount Studios removing him from the movie during postproduction. C.K. has certainly redeemed himself since then, especially with his work on and off screen on his television series “Louie”, which has earned him two Emmy Awards.

Interestingly Scott Rudin has recently finished working with C.K.’s friend Chris Rock on his return to directing and writing on the feature film Top Five.

A release date for I’m a Cop has not yet been announced, but “Louis” has already returned this year for its fifth season.
