Mel C recalled that Mel B and Geri Halliwell were furious after she told Victoria Beckham to “f*ck off”
During a recent appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Mel C, whose real name is Melanie Chisholm, said that the incident took place at the 1996 BRIT Awards.
Before their breakthrough with Wannabe, the group celebrated an “amazing night” at the event with champagne and a table alongside Lenny Kravitz, reports Page Six. She recollected, “We were just leaving, we were going to find our car, and whatever the situation was, I just turned around and [went], ‘Victoria, f**k off. I go home, go to bed, I wake up the next morning, and I’m in a lot of trouble.”
Mel C said she was warned she could be removed from the group if anything similar happened again, saying the threat left her terrified. “I went into terror because I thought I was gonna lose everything,” she said, as quoted by E! News, and further added, “Those dreams as a child, which now were a possibility, I might have f**ked it all up. And I thought it was very trivial as well.”
The Spice Girls, hailed as the best-selling female group of all time, have sold over 85 million records globally. After Geri Halliwell’s departure in 1998, the Spice Girls entered an indefinite hiatus before officially disbanding in 2000. However, the group reunited in 2007 for a global tour that sold out in just 38 seconds. Their last performance together took place on June 15, 2019, at London’s Wembley Stadium.
