Hulu Lands Seinfeld & Fear The Walking Dead

While Netflix is still widely regarded as the leader among streaming services, Hulu came out swinging at the company’s upfront presentation today.

Hulu and Jerry Seinfeld have announced that all nine seasons (and 180 episodes) of Seinfeld will be available exclusively on Hulu beginning in June. Seinfeld was one of the signature comedy series in the ‘90s and a key part of NBC’s former dominance on Thursday nights.

“There’s no question that Seinfeld has played a major role in TV history, which is why we cannot wait to make all episodes of the series available to stream for the first time ever on Hulu,” explained Hulu’s Senior Vice President of Content, Craig Erwich. “Whether you are an existing fan who just wants to relive your favorite moments over and over again, or are a new viewer who wants experience Seinfeld from the very beginning, Hulu will now be your destination to stream what has been dubbed as one of the greatest shows of all time.”

The deal between the producers of Seinfeld and Hulu is reportedly between $130 million to $180 million.

To follow that announcement, Hulu revealed a new deal with AMC Networks that will bring Fear The Walking Dead to Hulu later this year. Hulu will also become the exclusive home of several new and upcoming original series from AMC.

It should be noted that AMC currently has deals with Netflix for The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. However, the newest deal with Hulu could indicate that those series may also migrate to Hulu once Netflix’s current contracts with AMC expire.

Fear The Walking Dead will debut this summer on AMC before premiering on Hulu.
