Stephen Dorff to Play Leatherface in Another Texas Chainsaw Prequel

According to Deadline, an eighth Texas Chainsaw Massacre film is currently in the works over at Millennium, and the series’ iconic monster, a mentally challenged cannibal giant nicknamed Leatherface, will be played by the eternally underrated actor Stephen Dorff. In the film, Dorff will play a character named Hartman, the man who will become Leatherface, and it will detail the character’s origin. It will exist in the same continuity as 2013’s Texas Chainsaw 3D, which ignored the characters and events from all the films made since the 1974 original (including the 2003 remake and its prequel), serving as a direct sequel.

The title of the film is simply Leatherface, and it will be made by the same team as Texas Chainsaw 3D

To remind you, there are indeed seven Texas Chainsaw films to date, including The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986), Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006), and Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013). Collectively, the series has made about $235 million worldwide.

Millennium has options to make six more TCM films following this new one. That’s a lot of cannibalism.
