Presto Secures ‘Homeland’, ‘Modern Family’ In Deal With Fox

On-demand streaming service Presto has announced a content deal with 20th Century Fox, scoring exclusive access to Modern Family and Homeland, as well as a host of Fox TV classics, including Buffy and The X-Files.

Announcing the deal this morning, Presto will offer five seasons of Modern Family, as well as full seasons of Homeland, Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, Glee and Louie.

Shaun James, Director or Presto and Foxtel On Demand, said ,“20th Century Fox is a prolific producer of great television programming and we are delighted to have access to some of their most successful shows including series which are currently in production.”

“Our deal with 20th Century Fox has also bolstered our great library of television with some of the most iconic television shows ever produced including The X-Files and Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” Mr James added.

Other offerings from Fox’s back-catalogue to be exclusive to Presto include Angel, Roswell, and My Name is Earl.

The announcement is the latest in a scramble for exclusive content, with the Nine Network and Fairfax-owned rival streaming service Stan announcing a deal with Roadshow Entertainment in January.

While this latest agreement may not come as a huge shock considering that Presto is part-owned by Foxtel, it does nonetheless give the local subscription service some ammunition in the battle with rival services, including Netflix, which launches in Australia March 24.
