The Expendables Move To Fox For Event Series

For years, Sylvester Stallone and Lionsgate have been pushing the idea of bringing The Expendables to television. Now, it’s finally happening.

Deadline is reporting that Fox is developing The Expendables as an event miniseries with Stallone on board as an executive producer alongside Avi Lerner and showrunner Shane Brennan (NCIS). Brennan will co-write The Expendables TV miniseries with Greg Coolidge (Ride Along) & Kirk Ward.

While The Expendables films featured a large number of current and former movie action stars, The Expendables TV incarnation will reportedly target actors and actresses who found fame on television. The official description calls it “a fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist.”

Although there are currently no cast members attached to The Expendables miniseries, Deadline suggested Kiefer Sutherland (24), Tom Selleck (Magnum P.I.), Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess), Jennifer Garner (Alias) and Mr. T (The A-Team). Strike Back‘s Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester were also floated for consideration, but both actors recently signed on to do pilots at NBC.
