Baron Zemo to Appear in ‘Captain America: Civil War’

When Disney bought Marvel’s library back in 2009, someone was rubbing their hands in glee, hoping to use every single bizarre and obscure character in the Marvel canon in a live-action feature film someday. Having already torn through relative obscurities like The Guardians of the Galaxy, Batroc the Leaper, Dark Elves, the Chitauri, and many others, Marvel will also be adapting their character Baron Zemo to the big screen for Captain America: Civil War, the 13th planned Marvel film, due in theaters May of 2016. According to sources, German actor Daniel Brühl will play the part.

Baron Zemo was first invented in 1964, and was a mad Nazi inventor who built death rays, shrinking rays, and evil warrior robots to fight The Avengers. His signature weapon is a cannister of Adhesive X, the world’s most powerful bonding agent. He is also a descendant of many other Barons, although there is no word yet as to whether Brühl will be playing the most recent iteration of Baron Zemo, or an earlier one.
