Toronto Gets Ready For World MasterCard Fashion Week

World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto gets started on Monday, October 20th, and in addition to mainstay designers presenting their spring/summer collections, a number of up-and-coming fashionista brands and labels will also be debuting their creations at the biggest fashion event in Canada.

Montreal’s SOIA & KYO are presenting their collection on Thursday, October 23rd at 8pm. This collection continues the Montreal-based brand’s tradition of polished, utilitarian design. “Our newest collection highlights the versatility of SOIA & KYO,” said Ilan Elfassy, creative director of SOIA & KYO, in a press release. “Spring/Summer 2015 is all about the fusion of environments. This collection softens the sometimes-industrial city wardrobe with delicate pastoral qualities, allowing the pieces to transition smoothly between downtown and out-of-town.

Bustle, Matthew Gallagher, Rudsak, and Pink Tartan will also be on-hand showcasing their newest designs.

New to Toronto’s runways during this season’s events are:

Hayley Elsaesser, who comes following her debut this year at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney. Her fun prints and vibrant palette will be a great way to bring in spring.

RANK by Rani (from Rani Kim) at Toronto Men’s Fashion Week is bringing a new definition of the modern international man  – attention to detail and her minimalist execution are the defining characteristics of her brand, while her fabric pairings stand out.

Som Kong has been fueling a fashion frenzy since his debut at Toronto Men’s Fashion Week – his collections focus on a signifying detail that echoes throughout his pieces, and a little birdie told us that engineered drapes are his inspiration for the upcoming season.

From dressing notables such as Karine Vanasse and Marie-Mai, Quebec City-based designer Rudybois is bringing structure and clean lines to the runway.

Designer Leah Antoinette of Elan & Castor has returned to Toronto after designing through San Francisco, Los Angeles and London. Her luxury knitwear line features hand-knitted pieces, original print designs, and strives to create a balance between raw deconstruction and soft luxury.

World MasterCard Fashion Week runs from October 20-25.
