GMC Fantasy Football: A Rookie’s Draft Results

There’s no turning back now. I’m a fantasy football general manager for the first time.

GMC brought me to Denver this week. I had a chance to drive the Denali for an upcoming review — and to play fantasy football in 2014-15 against GMs from other guy-driven or football related news outlets. GMC reps brought us to Sports Authority Stadium at Mile High for a 15 round draft to select the squads we’ll take into battle. The league’s winner will head to the Super Bowl for an all-expenses paid, VIP experience.

A couple hours later, here’s the squad I ended up with:

The Silverbacks

QBs – Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson

RBs – Eddie Lacy, Montee Ball, Fred Jackson, Knile Davis

WRs – Andre Johnson, Pierre Garcon, Tavon Austin, Emmanuel Sanders

TEs – Vernon Davis, Delanie Walker, Jordan Reed

K – Steven Hauschka

Defense – Denver Broncos

After the draft was over, NFL.com (the draft’s and league’s host) was nice to send along an analysis of my draft to send me off to bed depressed. They say:

Graft Grade: B

The Silverbacks will be a team with upside this season. Drafting fourth overall, they delivered a roster with playoff potential. They didn’t overload at any one position early on, instead focusing on balance by drafting a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end within their first five picks. By the time the draft was completed, Silverbacks ended up with one of the top tandems of tight ends in the league.
