Assassin’s Creed Rogue Confirmed by Ubisoft

After much fan speculation, Ubisoft has confirmed the existence of Assassin’s Creed Rogue, a prequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Conspicuously, no mention of a PC version has yet been made.

The game will release on November 11th, and is designed to provide an Assassin’s Creed experience this holiday for gamers who have yet to make the next-gen plunge (Assassin’s Creed Unity, remeber, is only available on next-gen platforms). The title is being developed by Ubisoft Sofia primarily, but in typical Ubisoft fashion, its studios from around the world have all pitched in to varying degrees. This includes its teams in Singapore, Montrael, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan, and Bucharest. In other words, every Ubisoft studio works on every Assassin’s Creed all at once. Craziness.

The game’s plot will fill in the blanks left between Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and takes place during the Seven Years’ War. According to Ubi, various North American locales will be explorable, including the Appalachian River Valley, the North Atlantic, and even the city of New York.

You play as a Templar this time around, and according to an Ubisoft designer, Rogue “is sort of the cornerstone of the Kenway trilogy.” If you haven’t jumped to a PS4 or Xbox One just yet, then Rogue looks to be a holiday must-buy for fans of the series. Heck, it may end up being one either way.
