Connor Drinan Loses $4.9 Million On Unluckiest Poker Hand Ever

Most of us have been captivated by the poker boom of the last decade. We’ve seen our fair share of upsets in that time, but nothing like this.

This comes from Tuesday’s World Series Of Poker $1 million buy-in tournament. Connor Drinan was up huge with pocket aces and re-raised Cary Katz up to $4.9 million. After it was revealed they both had pocket aces, they were expecting a split pot… but the universe had other plans.

This is seriously the first time I have ever seen anything like this:

Drinan hasn’t made millions but enough to live off playing poker, winning the Florida State championship and a good hunk of cheese in 2011. Let’s hope this loss doesn’t push him over the edge, as it would many, including myself.
