Canadian Jay Baruchel Announces New TV Project

FXX has ordered 10 episodes of the new show “Man Seeking Woman,” a new comedy television series that will star Canadian actor and screenwriter Jay Baruchel and is based on Simon Rich’s (“Saturday Night Live”) book of short stories “The Last Girlfriend on Earth.”

Baruchel, an Ottawa native, is known for flexing his comedy muscle in a number of hilarious flicks like “This Is The End” and “Tropic Thunder,” as well as his writing skills, having contributed to the movie “Goon,” which he also helped to produce. However, his resume also includes a number of TV series, such as DreamWorks’ “Dragons” (animated), “Just Legal,” and “Undeclared,” written by Judd Apatow.

In “Man Seeking Woman” he’ll star alongside such talents as Eric André (“2 Broke Girls”), Britt Lower (“Unforgettable”), and Maya Erskine (“Betas”). According to The Canadian Press, Rich wrote the pilot with Jonathan Krisel and will executive-produce alongside heavyweight Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer. Baruchel stars as Josh Greenberg, a “naive romantic on a desperate quest for love.” The same article also cites that a spokesperson for Rogers Media (the owner of the “Man Seeking Woman” network) said Canadian broadcast details have not yet been announced.
