Wimbledon 2014: Rafael Nadal Struggles Despite Victory

Number one seed Rafael Nadal wasn’t in his best form as he took on Martin Klizan in their first round match on day two of Wimbledon 2014.

Klizan, who is ranked 51 in the world, was eclipsed by Nadal on Centre Court despite winning the opening set 6-4.

Nadal eventually went on to win the next three sets 6-3 in an unconvincing display that lasted a grueling three hours, but one that Nadal can ultimately forget about as the tournament progresses.

Meanwhile, Nadal’s close competitor Roger Federer stormed through his match against Paolo Lorenzi, winning 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 on Court 3 in one and a half hours.

Both Nadal and Federer now advance to the second round, with Nadal set to face Lukas Rosol.
