Michelle Wie Does Celebratory Twerk After U.S. Open Win

Michelle Wie has travelled a fairly tough road since joining the LPGA Tour in 2005.  A prodigy at age 10 with her first qualifying round at a USGA amateur championship, Wie went pro at the very tender age of 15, eliciting all the media hype you’d expect from a 15-year-old pro golfer.

Unfortunately, Wie didn’t follow the Tiger Woods route to domination.  Instead, she struggled.  Despite all the promise, Wie finished the 2008 season as the 238th-best player on the LPGA Tour.  After setting her sights on a Tiger-esque meteor ride to fortune, glory and wins, it had to be an extremely rough road for a teenager to handle.

Which is why we’re going to give the now 24-year-old Wie a pass after logging her first major championship win Sunday with a victory at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

While Wie did and said all the right things in accepting her accolades, it was a different story when Wie and her posse celebrated the win after the tournament back at the hotel.

A celebration that included drinking beer out of the U.S. Open trophy…and twerking.

Yes.  The U.S. Open champion was twerking to her victory.

Michelle, that’s NEVER a good move.  Ever.  Even after winning the Open.  No twerking…ever.

But like we said, we’ll cut you a break this time…but just this once.

As noted by Crave sports site NESN, many of the incriminating photos of Wie twerking her little heart out mysteriously vanished from her Twitter and Instagram accounts not long after they were posted.

But a few samples of Wie’s…skills were captured before they were deleted.

You’re welcome, America.
