Luminato Festival Kicks Off In Toronto This Weekend

The annual 10-day Luminato Festival in Toronto gets started this weekend, and the program is chock full of music, film, and other performance programming.

The festival hub, located at David Pecaut Square, will be transformed into “Cardboard Beach,” a dry beach in the middle of an urban downtown area, where it will act as a centralized locale to all of the events. Opening night festivities include performances by Interactivo, Emeline Michel, and Jesse Cook, which will then kick off several days of musical performances as well as film screenings. Some of the flicks that will be presented are “Stones in Her Mouth,” “River of Fundament,” and the Ontario premiere of “Drawing Restraint.”

The Luminato Festival is also teaming up with TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) and showing a number of films from the coveted film event (which will take place this coming September).

Finally, “The New York Times” brings its long-running series of talks with the most celebrated newsmakers, artists, and social influencers of the day to Toronto.

The Luminato Festival, which was named one of “15 Canadian Music Festivals You Must See Before You Die” by CTV News, June 6-15. For more information on the event, visit their official website.
