Mortal Kombat X Announced, Watch the Awesome Trailer

Mortal Kombat X has been officially announced, with the next iteration in the series coming in 2015.

The above trailer shows series stalwarts Sub-Zero and Scorpion going toe-to-toe in a snowy forest, with ultra-violent results.

The footage shows the return of the X-Ray attacks featured in the previous Mortal Kombat game, which highlights the injuries you inflict on your opponent in gruesome detail. It also depicts Sub-Zero breaking apart a tree branch and using it as a makeshift weapon, which could mean that environmental attacks will make their way into the game similar to Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Mostal Kombat X will also debut a new feature in which players will have the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character, impacting both their strategy and fighting style. The blurb for the trailer reads: "Fueled by next-gen technology, Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay to create an unprecedented Kombat experience." The game will release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC, along with the PS3 and Xbox 360.
