Are We There Yet? – Traveling To Thailand

How would you like to take a selfie with a member of the Thailand military?

Thailand, a place frequented by a number of my friends (I have yet to go myself) however, a lot of the time, it’s a destination still steeped in political angst and turmoil. A recent article on CNN Travel explained that with an overnight curfew between 10pm and 5am, and the country’s military chief announcing in a national address Thursday that the Thai military has taken control of the government in a coup after rival factions were unable to come up with a suitable agreement to govern, plus other factors, are having a major impact on the tourism in this picturesque locale.

However, just browsing through the official Thailand tourism website makes one realize that despite the politics that rule here, the sights and culture are still drawing people in. With stunning Buddhist temples, exotic wildlife, and spectacular islands, as well as a fascinating history and a unique culture that includes delectable Thai food, Thailand features a modern capital city and friendly people who epitomize their “land of smiles” reputation.

Bon Voyage,

Jenn
