Marvel: Avengers Game Will Come With “the Right Partner”

So, where exactly are the crappy, crank-’em-out-to-capitalize-on-a-movie video game tie-in products for this summer’s Marvel flicks Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy?  Or an Avengers game, for that matter?

Well, according to Crave gaming site Destructoid, it sounds like Marvel may be getting wise about their video game product the same way they shored up their cinematic universe.

In an interview originally conducted by IGN, Marvel head of games TQ Jefferson says they’re making a concerted effort not to throw the Marvel name on just any old quicky video game anymore.

“The Avengers game will come when we have the right partner, that has the right vision, that has the time to develop a strong, competitive triple-A title and wants to do it right,” Jefferson said.

So after disappointing efforts like Captain America: Super Soldier and Thor: God of Thunder, Jefferson said the criteria is higher for the next games that’ll bare the Marvel name.

“It has to hit our three pillars: Fun and engaging gameplay, true to the characters, compelling story. Without hitting those notes, we shouldn’t do it,” said Jefferson. “Gamers, they know better. They’re not going to flock to something that’s sub-par.”
