Fox Finds Jesus With ‘Nazareth’ Event Series

Last year, History’s“The Bible” miniseries debuted to huge ratings, which led to producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey repurposing the Jesus Christ footage from the miniseries for a Son of God film (pictured above) that turned out to be a modest hit.

Clearly, Hollywood isn’t ready to walk away from the onslaught of Jesus themed media anytime soon. Fox has jumped into the game with “Nazareth,” a new event miniseries that will chronicle Jesus Christ’s life from age 13 to 30. That period of time in Christ’s life was not covered in The New Testament.

David Franzoni (Gladiator) is writing “Nazareth” and executive producing the project alongside Bob Cooper and FX Productions.

Amazingly, this isn’t the only project about Christ’s lost years that is currently in development. History was reportedly developing a project that cast young Jesus as an exorcist, but that appears to have been dropped by the network for now. Lifetime is also producing a TV movie called The One, that will also explore that time in Christ’s life.

As for “The Bible” producers, they have their sequel miniseries, “A.D.: Beyond The Bible” set up at NBC.
