Colin Kaepernick Being Investigated For Assault
San Francisco star quarterback Colin Kaepernick isn't facing any charges at this time, but according to reports is currently being investigated by Miami police in an assault case. The Miami Police Department filed a report last week involving Kaepernick, calling it a "suspicious incident."
Police said Thursday that 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is the subject of an investigation in South Florida.
Miami Police spokeswoman Frederica Burden did not release details, but confirmed the football player was being investigated for an alleged incident that took place earlier this month.
No charges have been filed against Kaepernick, but TMZ Sports reported Thursday that investigators were looking into an alleged assault that occurred in Miami.
"The 49ers organization is aware of a report regarding Colin Kaepernick and are gathering facts," said 49ers general manager Trent Baalke, in a statement.
Kaepernick has spent the last two months training in North Miami Beach with fellow teammates. Quinton Patton, a Niners wide receiver, and Seattle receiver Ricardo Lockette — a close friend of Kaepernick's — were also named "suspects" in the MPD report.
According to CSNBayArea, the alleged victim reported to police that on April, 1 around 9 P.M., she visited Lockette's apartment where Kaepernick and Patton both were. Following drinks and a bong hit, she said she woke up in a hospital bed with no memory as to what had happened, only that she had undressed with Kaepernick in a bedroom. She said she had a previous sexual relationship with the 49ers quarterback.
