World’s Top 5 Premieres April 30th On Discovery Science

The Discovery Science “World’s Top 5,” which explores extraordinary engineering feats, returns to the network on April 30th in a new 10-part series.

Top engineering talent will go behind the scenes to reveal the sheer engineering brilliance powering ships, firefighters, railways, giant aircrafts, transporters, trucks, cranes, mighty planes, sea machines, and helicopters. Season 2 is filled with awesome machines like an oil tanker carving its way through arctic ice; a plane putting out a forest fire; and a submarine diving 300 metres below the waves. The series reveals how these mechanical titans measure up to the rest of the competition and the secrets to their success.

In the first episode of Season 2 of “World’s Top 5,” this episode shortlists five outstanding ships: the state-of-the-art safety vessel The Esvagt Aurora; the ice-breaking oil tanker the The MVTonsberg; the world’s largest bulk carrier Vale Brasil; the undersea construction vessel Lewek Connector; and the deep-water drillship, Ocean Black Hawk. All are engineering wonders in their own right – but how will they fare when against each other in five key categories? And which will be the ultimate massive ship?

“World’s Top 5” airs on Wednesday, April 30th at 8pm.
