Legendary Comics – which is a part of Legendary Pictures, the production company behind the new and incredibly awesome-looking reboot of the Godzilla film franchise – has announced that their 2014 film will have a 72-page graphic novel prequel called Godzilla: Awakening, due out May 7.
Here is the announcement from the film’s director Gareth Edwards.
Max Borenstein, screenwriter of the new Godzilla film, will be writing this prequel with Greg Borenstein, and it will be set decades before the film, which means that Godzilla may be retaining his original roots as a creation of the dawn of the atomic age. The art team includes Eric Battle, Yvel Guichet, Alan Quah and Lee Loughridge, with a cover from Arthur Adams.
And, in case you’ve been under a rock, here’s the trailer for the new film.
