Stargate May Be in for 3 Movie Reboot

Roland Emmerich, who just loves to blow things up, says he is in serious talks to relaunch a movie and TV franchise he began in 1994: Stargate.

The director and writer of the original film starring Kurt Russell and James Spader was quoted Thursday in Crave’s CinemaBlend website:

“We went to MGM, who has the rights, and proposed to them to do a sequel, but as a reboot, and reboot it as a movie and then do three parts.”

Of course Emmerich is already trying to relaunch another of his old movies with Independence Day 2.

One presumes if Emmerich is successful, he can then go on to follow up the films with another flood of TV series in the SG1-Atlantis-Universe mode to fill the next 20 years, finishing up just in time for the concept to be ready for another circa 2040 reboot.  Gotta love Hollywood, right?
