Pokemon X and Y Will Let You Choose Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur

In a Nintendo Direct broadcast this morning centred around the upcoming Pokemon X and Y games for the 3DS, it was revealed that the original trio of starter Pokemon will also be available as starters in the new games.

Yes, Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur will be selectable from the get-go, as an alternative to the new starters Chespin, Froakie and Fennekin. All three of the old-school Pokemon will also have Mega Evolutions, evoling into Mega Charizard, Mega Blastoise and Mega Venasaur respectively.

Two new special edition Pokemon X and Y themed 3DS XL consoles were also announced, which will be available on September 27th. The game releases worldwide on October 12th.
