‘The X-Files’ Creator Chris Carter Brings ‘The After’ To Amazon

Back in October 2012, Chris Carter teamed up with  Georgeville TV to bring “The After” to television. After a lengthy search, “The After” has finally found a home and it won’t be on TV at all.

Deadline is reporting that Amazon has given “The After” a pilot order, with Carter set to write and direct the pilot episode. “The After” is said to take place “at the moment of apocalypse.” Georgeville TV CEO Marc Rosen previously said that “Chris has woven his mythology magic within a very human, grounded story about the moment when we realize all of our worst fears about the world and its future.”

Carter is best known for creating “The X-Files,” the iconic ‘90s thriller that starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as a pair of FBI agents charged with investigating bizarre and unusual crimes linked to the supernatural and the unknown. Carter also created the TV series “Millennium” and “The Lone Gunmen,” as well as the TV adaptation of the comic book, “Harsh Realm.”

If “The After” gets picked up by Amazon, it may become the company’s first one hour series. Amazon has already ordered five original series based on the 14 pilots that were released earlier this year.
