Gamescom 2013: PC Driver Support for the DualShock 4 Seen at Gamescom

As you might be aware, the Xbox One has had many of its games played on computers with drivers that could support the use of the systems controllers. We saw it at E3, and again at the multiplayer release for Call of Duty: Ghosts in L.A. earlier this month.

According to Worlds Factory, Sony is doing the very same thing right now with their Dualshock 4 at Gamescom. Alongside this, it apparently isn’t having any problems functioning with the computers they are linked with. So, has Sony developed the drivers needed to be able to run their controllers on PCs without annoying software like MotionInJoy? Or is it merely for the presentation and playability at events? Getting several functioning systems, let alone one, for an event like Gamescom is a large task during pre-release, so hopefully it’s the former.

All that we know for sure is that there have been no official statements from Sony’s camp. Microsoft has already promised to add driver support in 2014, but we’ll have to see if it upholds that promise. If Sony does manage to release support at or around launch it could be ahead of Microsoft, making the DualShock 4 a flagship controller for PC games.
