Syfy Greenlights ‘Dominion’ And Considers 4 More Original Series

Back in February 2012, Syfy revealed that it was developing the 2010 feature film, Legion as a potential TV series, with Legion director/co-writer Scott Stewart on board as an executive producer. In the interim, the “Legion” title has been dropped, but the project is closer than ever to reality.

According to Deadline, Syfy has ordered a 90 minute pilot for “Dominion,” which is based on the characters and world introduced in Legion. Stewart will helm the pilot, which was written by “Sons of Anarchy” veteran, Vaun Wilmott.

“Dominion” takes place 25 years after a war between angels and mankind has devastated the world. The lead character is a young soldier who learns that he may be humanity’s savior. In the Legion feature film, Paul Bettany (pictured above) played the Archangel Michael, who broke away from God to aid humanity in their war against a legion of angels.

Deadline is also reporting that Syfy has narrowed down its current crop of potential drama series to four: the recently revealed “!2 Monkeys” TV project; Marti Noxon and M. Night Shyamalan’s “Proof,” which which deals with a billionaire who offers a large reward for anyone who can prove life after death; “Sojourn,” which deals with a detective attempting to solve a murder on a spaceship and “Clandestine;” another sci-fi series that follows a group of mercenaries and thieves as they pretend to be members of an intergalactic fleet.

Of the four projects listed, one or more may get a rare straight-to-series order, bypassing the traditional pilot episode. Syfy has already slated its next drama, “Helix” to premiere early in 2014.
