Keanu Reeves To Film New Movie In Montreal

Canadian actor Keanu Reeves is returning to home turf to shoot the new flick “Passengers” alongside actress Reese Witherspoon.

According to a Global News article, it will be the first feature project for director Brian Kirk (“Game of Thrones,” “Rogue”), and it will primarily be shot at Montreal’s La Cite du Cinema.

“Passengers” is a sci-fi movie about a group of people, including Reeves and Witherspoon, who are being transported to a distant planet, only when Reeves wakes up 90 years before everyone else, he also awakens Witherspoon so he won’t be alone.

Reeves was born in Lebanon but grew up mostly in Toronto, attending school there (where he was expelled) and playing hockey. He is best known for his roles in “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” “Speed” with Sandra Bullock, and “The Matrix” trilogy. In 2005 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2011 in a NME article, Reeves confirmed that a third installment of “Bill & Ted” was in the works, although he didn’t know much about the storyline: “I know a little bit, but I don’t know [much] – the fellas went off and cooked it up. I don’t know what happened when they put the elements together.”

In the meantime, look for Reeves in the flick “Man of Tai Chi,” which he not only stars in but also directed.
