Preview: Wolverine: Japan’s Most Wanted #1

Time for the low-tech Canucklehead to go high-tech with Wolverine: Japan’s Most Wanted, a new 13-part weekly Infinite Comics series – and that means it’s a comic book experience designed specifically for the digital format. Jason Aaron, Jason Latour and Paco Diaz are joining forces for this effort, but all we know about the story from Marvel’s press release is that Silver Samurai, Sabretooth and ninjas are after him in Japan – just in time to coincide with The Wolverine, the movie sending Hugh Jackman’s version of Logan to Japan as well.

Infinite Comics on a weekly basis are nothing to sneeze at, though. Each panel, each image unfolds exactly the way the creators intended – you don’t get to see two pages and sneak ahead – you get the story as it was supposed to be read, without the occasional awkwardness of forcing a layout designed for the printed page forced into a panel-by-panel mode as is the case with a lot of other books.

Check out these preview images from Wolverine: Japan’s Most Wanted #1, although with Infinite Comics, preview images can only illustrate so much. It’s all in the unfolding.

Then, coming this October on the heels of this Wolverine tale, we’ll be getting more weekly Infinite Comics in the form of Iron Man: Fatal Frontier, which will tie directly into Kieron Gillen’s ongoing Iron Man run. Gillen will be working with artist Lan Medina on a story that pits Tony Stark vs. Dr. Doom on the moon. That’s the stuff comic books are made of.
