Will The ‘Doctor Who’ 50th Anniversary Special Feature All 11 Doctors?

It’s long been rumored that the wildly popular Tenth Doctor, David Tennant would appear alongside Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor in the upcoming “Doctor Who” 50th Anniversary Special. But it turns out that the TARDIS may be a bit more crowded than that.

A new report out of the UK indicates that all eleven incarnations of the Doctor will appear in the “Doctor Who” 50th Anniversary special this November. The Doctor and his previous selves will reportedly be united to face a dangerous menace that the Last of the Time Lords won’t be able to handle on his own.

According to the rumor, every living Doctor is expected to return, including Tennant, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann and even Christopher Eccleston; who has frequently said that he wouldn’t consider coming back to “Doctor Who.”

UPDATE: January 22, 12:00PM

Colin Baker has thrown some doubt on the report by denying it on Twitter.

“Wish I could [tell you it was true] but alas apart from The Big Finish plans I am not aware of any 50th stories nor have I been approached.”

Even the three former Doctors who passed away – William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee – are rumored to be in the special in flashback scenes thanks to the use of “studio trickery.”

None of the 10th Doctor’s companions are expected to return for the special, nor will Karen Gillan or Arthur Darvill. However, the report speculates that River Song (Alex Kingston) will be the one to bring the Doctor and his past selves together.

“Doctor Who” showrunner Steven Moffat is said to be writing the script for the special; which should be filmed within a few months.

The series has previously celebrated its anniversaries by bringing back its former stars. For the tenth anniversary, “The Three Doctors” brought Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee’s Doctors together, while the 20th anniversary added Baker and Davison to the mix for  “The Five Doctors.”
