Rumor: Epic Mickey 2 Goes Multiplatform and Co-op

It’s looking very likely that we’re going to be seeing a multiplatform sequel to Disney’s Epic Mickey, as a Disney Newsletter leaked online discussing the title and one of its major new features: cooperative play. The newsletter has since been pulled, but not before the Internet could get a hold of it and spread it like wild fire.

The website Stitch Kingdom (via MTV Multiplayer) got their hands on the fall 2012 Disney online newsletter which talks about a sequel to Epic Mickey coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. The game will also feature co-op play, allowing player 1 to control Mickey while player 2 controls Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

Here’s the full text from the letter:

“Disney Epic Mickey 2 is the latest game in the critically acclaimed Disney Epic Mickey videogame series. In this all-new action-platforming game available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, Mickey embarks on an epic journey and is pulled back into a world filled with Disney’s forgotten characters. Players can choose to play single-player as Mickey or for the first time players can also choose 2-player split screen mode. In the 2 player mode one person can play as Mickey wielding magic paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world and the second player can play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit – Walt Disney’s first cartoon star – with the power to fly like a helicopter and use electricity to fight or friend enemies and solve challenges. Team-up and choose your path to save this forgotten world because the choices you make will alter the story and change the end of the game!”

Rumors of a Epic Mickey follow-up have been circulating for some time now. Earlier in 2011 a survey was released online asking participants to choose mock box art for such a game. However, no concrete news came of that survey. But this lasted leaked document adds further fuel to the fire that we’ll one day see an Epic Mickey 2, seemingly across more consoles than just the Wii.
