HD Zelda for Wii U Confirmed by Miyamoto

One of the biggest selling points for core gamers as far as Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U is concerned lies in the HD gaming possibilities. This system will be HD capable and will outperform both the PS3 and Xbox 360, though not drastically.

Most Nintendo fans have been clamoring for gorgeous, HD versions of their favorite characters and storylines ever since this console generation got up and running. Now, admittedly late, Nintendo’s getting into the HD mix with the Wii U. And Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s legendary Designer, has revealed that the company is working on an HD Zelda title for the console.

“This is an HD system, our first HD system, and we want to create a real HD Zelda game for it…You will see a lot of these in-depth and deep experiences in terms of visual style. You will also see some play styles that are fun and interesting because of the play structure.”

Nintendo showed off an HD Zelda “experience” at E3, but was quick to point out that everything being shown for the system during the conference was nothing more than a demo and not indicative of future software. If the new Zelda looks as good as the “experience” we caught a glimpse of, it’s time to get psyched.

If you’re wondering why you should be getting pumped for a new Zelda game so close to a consoles launch, I’d like to harken you back to when Nintendo unveiled the GameCube. During that conference, gamers saw a gorgeous, realistic Zelda title in action. That game never happened, and it was years after the console launched that we were given Wind Waker.

Now we can look forward to a glorious, HD Zelda title right away.
