Intelligent Children Have Mom To Thank (As Do The Dummies)

Being a mother is a thankless job. Of all the amazing things moms do to keep their kids alive, they get one day where we begrudgingly buy them a card or flowers.
It turns out, they should not only get credit for being awesome, but also for how smart you are.
Intelligent Children Are Smart Because Of Their Mothers
New research has shown that kids get their intelligence from their mothers, while dear old dad’s genes don’t contribute. So if you’ve grown up to be an intelligent human, maybe you should get your mother something more deserving than a card. On the other side of this coin, if you got bad genes from your mom, maybe get her some bad “jeans.” I dunno, my mom wasn’t very bright.
According to a study done in Glasgow, after interviewing nearly thirteen thousand people aged 14 to 22, they found that the best predictor of intelligence was the IQ of the mother. This is because the gene that carries intelligence is found in the X-Chromosome — which women have two of. These studies have been proven in mice, as well.
But don’t let these findings define you. A significant amount of who you are is determined by how you were raised. So the “nature/nurture” fight is still on.
Until then, just enjoy crushing beer cans on your head with dear old dad. It’s all the poor guy has got.
