Huge Dead Mouse Found In Subway Sandwich

While Subway deals with the fallout of their famous spokesperson being found with child porn, their image took another hit as a man found a dead mouse in a sandwich he had ordered.

Matt Jones and his friend Jay had just gone inside a Subway in Lincoln City, Oregon, when Jay decided to order an Italian Sub with extra spinach. Apparently Jay forgot to say “hold the mouse” because Subway served him a dead mouse along with extra spinach.

Matt and Jay were afraid that the spinach, some of which was used to make the sandwich, was contaminated by the mouse:

“It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, but it’s also the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen,” Matt said. “I laughed because I was like, there is no way this just happened.”

It’s Subway, Matt. Nothing should surprise you anymore.

While Matt and Jay did receive an apology and a full refund, health inspectors still made their way into the shop:

“The investigation determined that the rodent problem did not come from inside the facility. It was probably in a bag of the bagged spinach product, not from the facility itself,” Cheryl Connell, Director of Lincoln County Health and Human Services, revealed. “Everything was sanitized and cleaned properly afterwards.”

It was “probably” in the bag already. I hope everyone feels better.

As for Matt and Jay, they shouldn’t worry about getting sick because Connell says they “probably” won’t get sick:

“They [health inspectors] consulted with physicians and we followed their advice that, although it is not very appetizing, the risk of someone becoming sick due to eating lettuce with those particular circumstances were very low.”

Count that as a victory for Subway?
