Marvel Announces International Iron Man and 4 Other New Titles

The 2008 Iron Man movie changed everything for that character. Up to that point, Iron Man had never been a cultural phenomena in the way that Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman were. And Tony Stark wasn’t really that funny before Robert Downey Jr.’s performance redefined the character.

As part of the All-New, All-Different relaunch, Marvel indicated its plans to make the Iron Man comic into a bestseller by placing one of its top writers, Brian Michael Bendis on the new Invincible Iron Man series with artist David Marquez. And now, Iron Man will get his second ongoing series, courtesy of Bendis and artist Alex Maleev.

At the retailer presentation at the MCM Comic Con in London, Marvel unveiled International Iron Man and four other new comic book series. Bendis and Maleev will headline the new Iron Man title, which reunites them after their previous stints on Daredevil, Spider-Woman, Moon Knight, and the creator owned series Scarlet.

Long time Punisher artist Steve Dillon is returning to the character in a new series called The Punisher. But this time, Southern Cross writer Becky Cloonan will become the first woman to write the ongoing adventures of Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher.

Say Anything singer Max Bemis is writing an X-Men comic called X-Men: Worst X-Man Ever. The focus will be on a new character named Bailey Hoskins, who may actually be the worst X-Man as his story unfolds across multiple X-Men eras. Michael Walsh will be the artist for this series.

Two members of the Squadron Supreme are also getting their own series: Nighthawk by David Walker, and Hyperion by writer Chuck Wendig and artist Nik Virella.

All of these new Marvel titles will be released in 2016.
